* Canopy tours or zip lines are a great way of touring a forest! Canopy tours offer spectacular views as you zip from tree to tree via a series of connecting cables and platforms high above the ground. The Arenal Canopy Tour is at the foot of the mountain range where Arenal volcano is located in La Fortuna.

*There is beautiful waterfall set in the rainforest near the edge of Arenal Volcano National Park.
The hike is about 500 steps down where you will find a natural pool under the falls, perfect for a dip
on a hot day! 

 

 

 

 

* Since bursting into the sky in 1968, the Arenal Volcano of Costa Rica has been constantly active, glowing in the night and sending lava flowing down towards the north. You can see the active volcano Arenal from the lake, but driving into La Fortuna will get you a closer look    

* Be sure to stop by the Iguana Bridge in La Fortuna/Arenal, a refuge developed to protect large green Iguanas. There are up to 100 Iguanas sunning themselves in the trees which you can view from a small bridge.
Many times they enter the restaurant located next to the bridge and you can actually pet them.

 

 

 

 

*There is a small frog farm near the lake where the owner gives people tours to see several types of frogs including the red-eyed treefrog. When the owner wakes the frog up, it will often sit on your arm or jump to a higher spot.. 

 

 

 

* One of our favorite things to do in the evenings is go to LaFortuna to sit in the different Hot Springs.  There are 25 different pools all beautiful with varying degrees of "Hot".  Swim up bars, water slides
and our favorite is the pool with Jacuzzi jets and water falls.

 

 

* Travel the old-fashioned way! There are great places near the lake to ride horses in the rainforest..

 

 

 

 

* Monkeys can be spotted in the rain forest .
